The location of this is behind Mt. Eddy at around 8000 feet. Today was a perfect day for it without a cloud in the sky and the temperatures at about 73 degrees which is perfect weather to hike in.
So, from mt. Shasta you go to Weed on Interstate 5 and then towards Stewart Springs and up a paved road nearby there to Deadfall meadows and Lake. However, right now at the summit of the pass near the trailhead there is a glacier of snow that you have to walk across occluding the road. They say there is another way to go up through Lake Siskiyou and Gumboot lake but we didn't go that way today. However, we saw at least 15 or 20 hikers during the day and about 10 of them were going to Deadfall Lake and Meadow to camp. I had never been this place before and the only scary thing was the exposure of the glacier at about a 35 degree angle crossing the road for a block of snow. So, you have to really be careful and have lug soles on your boots so you don't slide off because you could be seriously injured or die there if you aren't careful crossing the ice and snow there to the other side of the paved road. After that it is pretty easy to find the trail and navigate to the meadow and lakes which are just beneath Mt. Eddy peak or "If you are looking from Mt. Shasta or mt. Shasta city or Interstate 5, Deadfall lake is just behind Mt. Eddy literally.
