For example, we have about 11,000 cases total and 1,091 new cases today and we have 40 million people here whereas small states like Louisiana (likely from Mardi Gras) has 2700 new cases just today. So, our early shelter in place orders have saved likely thousands of lives here in California.
This started with the mayor of San Francisco sheltering in place as the first major city in California to do that. Since Governor Newsom used to be mayor of San Francisco it helped him see to shelter in place for the whole state before any other state did. But, also we had more notice from having to help people off the ships that were in trouble with coronavirus too. This gave us a heads up more as to what we actually were dealing with earlier than Eastern States who had no idea what was happening until it was too late because of public transit in places like New York City and other larger metropolises.
Washington in some ways had a similar experience to California and the best mathematical models for projections of cases and deaths come out of the University of Washington because of the Kirkland Rest home Coronavirus massacre of so many.
So, the early experiences with coronavirus in Washington and California because of our closer physical proximity to China, South Korea and Japan helped us prepare earlier than other states to the east of us.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
