In an atmosphere like this where parents might be drug addicts, criminals or worse like Drug Lords or whatever, learning cannot really take place effectively. Then when you add to this the problem of different learners.
For example, even though 65% of learners in the U.S. are visual learners that means that 35% are not visual learners. When you don't even take this into account brilliant kids who may not be visual learners are left behind sometimes for good.
For all these reasons and more learning at home, especially from ages zero to 12 might be a better outcome, (at least for parents that are actually capable of parenting their kids). For the rest, it is sort of catch as catch can along the way.
So, I'm thinking online learning might catch on as people realize how close they can be with their children as their friends and helpers and not just generational enemies which is what you get often with public school.
My older kids were educated from 1980 to 1885 through Oak Meadow School on independent study.
Also, the 20,000 plus dollars would be for attending their private school in person for a year. However you can buy a distance learning package for your kindergartner for about $345 dollars a year, for example. For a 6th grader it might be $595.00
I think it was 200 to 300 dollars a year when we did it back in 1980 to1985 so this is only inflation that has brought the price up.
This was an amazing experience for the whole family at that time. Now, all those children have college degrees and are married and successful in their lives and one of them has made me a grandfather. Here is Oak Meadow school distance learning today:
