History or His Story or "Dead men tell no tales"

So, history has always been mostly men talking about what they want you to hear as opposed to what really happened. So, the more personal aspects are always suspect. The fact that battles were fought and battles were won are not in dispute. However, individual tales are always suspect on many different levels.

For example, if you say a man or woman was a success in life what does that mean? First, it means they didn't die young. And then it means they never permanently gave up. They might have given up for a day, a week a year, they might have tried to kill themselves over an unhappy love affair many times before they gave up, it might mean that they almost died many times from injuries both mental, and emotional or physical but somehow they survived to succeed in life.

And what does success in life really mean?

It might mean that all your children survived to adulthood which I would say is 30 years of age because like my cousin says "keeping your kids alive from 18 to 25 is the hardest thing you will ever do." I agree with this by the way.

So, from my point of view being happy from about age 50 on is the surest sign of success in life. If you are happy you have done most things right in life. So, if you die happy you have succeeded. If not, then you likely have some things to work on still.

But, it's also important to say that the problem might not be with you but where you live or the people around you too. So, living in a free democracy like the U.S. where you aren't held back like you might be in other countries might be important too.

So, what is success in life? I would say dying happy is success!

And what is history?

It's a bunch of lies mostly that men told each other when times were difficult.

So, what is the truth? It depends upon who didn't die and who couldn't  tell their stories.
