A good practitioner of Crazy Wisdom, one of the first was Gautama Buddha who was a Prince being trained to be a King. One day he saw old people dying and sick people with leprosy and asked: "Why are these people dying? Why are these people Sick? Why are these people dying? (Because his father had shielded him from old age and death by keeping him inside the palace.
So, Buddha cut off his long hair which was one of his signs of royalty and became a sage, a sadhu to become enlightened. One day he was meditating by the river and hear someone go by on a raft who was a music teacher who said: "if the string is too tight it will break but if the string is too loose it won't sound right and from this statement he came up with the "Middle Path" or the Lam Rim which reminds me a lot of the Greek Saying which is "Moderation in all things". From his discovery of the Middle path he came up with the 8 fold path of ending the suffering of all beings in the past, present and future of the whole universe. This was 2500 years ago now or more.
Jesus took Buddha's compassion and turned it into Forgiveness for the middle Eastern Mind 2000 years ago now to over come "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth" which was a code of infinite revenge which prevents civilizations expanding or growing because of an infinite chain of revenge.
Forgiveness of Jesus created Western Civilization but in some ways this was founded upon the compassion of the Buddha for all beings in the past present and future of the entire universe. Christian forgiveness created modern civilization in the long run alongside Christian Brotherhood free from revenge which never ends.
Both Buddha and Jesus were practitioners of Crazy Wisdom or the Wisdom beyond logic.
It is like if a child runs into the street and you save the child just before it is hit by the car. It is realizing that all life is you and so you try to save that life if it is practical to do so.
So, part of the essence of Crazy Wisdom is right mindful practical compassion which always acts wisely and judiciously to save everyone that it is possible to save them from an early death. This is the essence of Crazy Wisdom.
It is the soldier that sacrifices themselves on the battlefield to save the American Way of life.
