There is a altitude above which tress usually or cannot grow which is different in different parts of the world. There are many factors like how close to the equator this mountain or range of mountains is etc.
So, for example because the himalayas are closer to the equator logically the trees are going to grow high than most places in the U.S.
So, you cannot know exactly where "Tree line" will occur because there are many geographic and weather factors year around in that location which decide how high certain trees can survive year after year.
