What's driving the Ashland, Oregon Fire into Phoenix and possibly later into Medford? 40 to 50 mph winds headed mostly north

I just learned the winds blowing somewhat northward are at 40 to 50 miles per hour right now blowing north from Ashland and the flames have already burned through Talent and are now moving through Phoenix, Oregon as well towards Medford, Oregon. The good news is that they are slated to reduce tonight which might give firefighters a chance to knock it down some. How far will it get by the time the winds reduce? That's an unknown at present.

The main problem with 40 to 50 mile per hour wind and  flames is there is very little firefighters can safely do to stop the fire with wind speeds this high. So, the fire is sort of like a blow torch in it's ferocity at these wind speeds ongoing. And embers are sure to light more fires ahead of the fire at these winds speeds too until the winds start to subside.
