When choosing a Cell phone or Smartphone: What are you trying to accomplish?

There are advantages and disadvantages to each type of cell phone and smartphone. However, since I have owned a smart phone now pretty much within a couple of years when they first came out which was 2007 so likely I have had a smart phone now continuously since 2009 likely.

I have tried androids and Iphones and even though you can do many more things on an android phone than on an Iphone an Iphone is just so intuitive compared to all other phones that I find myself coming back to Iphones and generally being more happy with the result of an Iphone than all the others I have tried.

Why?

An IPhone is very simplistic and intuitive. In other words it is sort of like a comfortable old VW Bug say a 1965 or 1966 both of which I have owned back then. It is completely reliable (most of the time).

My only complaint with Iphones is that they are still not as waterproof as they say they are.

I took my new IPhone 11 plus that I got myself for Christmas in 2019 out on a kayak with my son in law on Castle Lake in a zip lock plastic bag but somehow got a little moisture in there and it didn't work for two days. Then finally my wife got frustrated in Mt. Shasta that my new phone wasn't working and called someone and they restarted it for me. At first only the top one inch of the screen came on in a green yellow color but eventually it all came back and it works 9 times out of 10 but now heading towards 19 times out of 20. I still have problems answering phone calls and have to call people back often 1 time out of 20.

And I was told this phone was waterproof. Bullshit!

But, if you don't believe your new IPhone is waterproof (but might be somewhat water resistant) you might be ahead of the game.

But, if you want your smartphone to do tricks you might want an Android or Microsoft or other smartphone.

It's all what you want but remember I'm a technophile and so are my son and my daughters.

So, we choose what works best from a wide variety of choices. But, to each his own.

My wife takes longer for example she didn't move from Android to IPhone until this last Christmas with me. And now she wonders why she ever stayed with Android so long because Iphones are just so simple and intuitive. So, everyone in my immediate family (all 7 of us) have IPhones now because if you just want to make phone calls and text it is a better choice.

For free phone calls overseas there is also What's APP which we also use but the problem with What's APP is that Facebook bought it so you know you have no privacy because they are awful that way!

But, you still can phone almost anywhere overseas for free if you are near a wifi connection where you are at the time.
