2 weeks ago I found one in the kitchen. Mostly for me since I have taken ahimsa vows which means you will try not to kill anything living, I usually will take a spider outside to live outside of my home where they do a good job getting bugs of all kinds which mostly keeps them from coming inside.
However, if a spider fights me in bringing it outside things might go awry because I simply won't put up with a spider living in my home unless it is a single daddy long legs which is the most poisonous of spiders. But, they cannot bite through human skin at all so they cannot inject their poison into human beings at all. But, they control any spiders in the house and also take out insects like mosquitos.
But, the other problem with Daddy long legs is if you don't let one of them live inside you are likely going to have to kill the rest simply because you don't want them to mate and then you have thousands of little daddy long legs crawling all over you in bed one night which no one that I know of likes at all.
The problem is that their legs are so long when you try to move them with toilet paper or tissue outside their legs always start falling off. This is another reason why I prefer to keep one indoors to eat other spiders and bugs because of my ahimsa vows. I try not to kill anything but if you pick up a daddy long legs he or she is going to lose 1 or more legs in the process of you taking them outside.
Anyway, this one wolf spider that was very big I found in the kitchen and then I tried to remove him outside before we left for Portland. But, he went into a crevice in the kitchen and I couldn't get to him or even see him even though he was big.
I think my wife just found him while cleaning the plastic straps on the outdoor land chairs. I was interested if a wolf spider would still be alive and very surprised that one can live (especially the males) up to one year. I for some reason thought that spiders and flies only lived 3 or 4 days. This is true of some flies but obviously spiders live a lot longer than a fly does.
Whoops I was wrong again. A male housefly can live 28 days which I was completely surprised by too. However, as a child people thought flies only lived 3 or 4 days I remember. So, I guess a lot more was learned about them since the 1950s.
