Because I just found out about chipageddon a couple of days ago. Today we went into to buy a luxury car because my wife needs a smoother ride than her sporty car has because of a back injury in the last 6 months. But, we were told we could only buy a 4 cylinder car because that is all they had in stock of this particular SUV. If we wanted a 6 cylinder or 8 cylinder we would have to wait until August or October because of the Chip shortage presently. So, if you are rushing out to buy a new car because you think covid is over it might not be happening the way you think.
In other words if you are certain what you want you likely are going to have to wait for it even if you have the money to do it now the car might not be possible to get for 3 to 6 months or more at this point almost no matter what it is (unless you have found a used version that is exactly what you want).
