Why is this happening?
The best answer is likely "Coronavirus".
In other words coronavirus so devastated the world economy that the U.S. is at this point forced to withdraw for economic reasons more than any other reasons.
Biden is not a fool and realizes that Afghanistan is sort of like South Korea but the difference is South Korea is an economic powerhouse and Afghanistan is not. South Korea could help pay for U.S. troops to stay there but Afghanistan cannot.
So, to keep the U.S. government solvent after trillions of dollars going to Iraq and Afghanistan (6 trillion were spent on Iraq before 2010 by the way which could have been used for rebuilding U.S. infrastructure so our roads and bridges and gas lines don't look or act like third world roads, bridges and gas lines.
So, how many trillions have been spent on Iraq and Afghanistan today? I figure about 20 trillion dollars would be about right so far.
So, if we don't want the U.S. government to go bankrupt within the next 10 years withdrawal was the only practical but sad solution possible.
