The reason Republicans are only 1/2 way committing suicide is enough of them voted to prevent the Government shutting down so that an emergency bill made it through the Senate and House and likely that emergency bill to keep the government open will be or already has been signed into Law by Biden.
However, they are still 1/2 committing suicide as a party because they are blocking the Debt Ceiling increase ongoing.
However, progressives are basically committing political suicide by their constituents by voting against the 1 trillion dollar Infrastructure bill. Why?
Because if they don't vote for it they likely will be voted out of office in 2022 or whenever their re-elections happen. So, progressives that vote against the Infrastructure bill are going against the wishes of 70% of their constituents nationwide. So, those 70% are sure to vote those progressives out of office next election.
Moderates likely are okay but the progressives might be through if they vote against this bill tonight.
So, the most conservative of Trump Republicans and the most liberal of Democrats both are in political peril right now because of their stances and both could be the undoing of their parties short and long term at this point.
