As of now we put 5000 miles on our new car to get from the SF Bay area as far as Lake Louise and back to Mt. Shasta via Seattle

We started in the SF Bay area and drove to Lake Tahoe where I had some trouble with the over 6000 feet altitude. So, we went to the ER at the Truckee Hospital where they said I couldn't get an oxygenator (which electrically pulls the oxygen out of the air and concentrates it for breathing because I have a 93% oxygenation rate. But, a friend of mine called on the phone and talked about Boost Oxygen which is a small compressed oxygen canister you can buy usually for under $30 a canister. So, I bought one at a CVS in Lake Tahoe next to Interstate 80 and headed down 80 towards Reno and eventually Twin Falls Idaho that day (likely the 6th or 7th of June then) direct from the ER at Truckee Hospital.

Then while driving across Nevada it was very very green (likely greener than it was for 20 or 30 years) And it proceeded to be greener than anything people had seen in years throughout Nevada and Idaho and Wyoming and Montana and up into Canada in Alberta where Banff and Lake Louise are which we visited along with friends who were traveling in their own car and playing musical gigs along the way because they are musicians. So, they had arranged places to play music along the way to some degree. However, around Yakima which was after we all left Canada from Lake Louise one of them got Covid Omicron and eventually the other one did too. So, still one of them is having relapse problems with that too even though both were fully vaccinated with 4 shots including the boosters. So, hopefully both will be okay eventually.

But, my wife and I were not exposed because they had left Lake Louise 4 days before exposure and we didn't see them until Mt. Shasta.

It's been a very unusual 4th of July because often it is over 100 degrees this time of year. However, Weather worldwide is not anything like it ever was before basically.

So, we are happy to finally be relatively close to home to where we could drive home between 5 and 7 hours of driving depending upon traffic. So, we likely won't leave for home to avoid traffic for several days from now anyway. Because traffic on  the 2nd out of Portland was pretty bad and it took us about 1 hour just to get to Wilsonville from Portland. But, the traffic north from Eugene was much much worse so we were grateful not to be heading north on Interstate 5 from Eugene.

We woke up about 8 am this morning to try to get to the Fun Run and Walk that is held every year in Mt. Shasta. So, we walked to where the race would be run by 8:30am this morning. Police had already closed the main roads into Mt. Shasta for the runners and walkers. By 10 AM we went to a place near Sports and Spirits Chevron that sells coffee and scones and muffins and such. Also, across the street a new Starbucks has opened where the Taco Bell used to be. So, I guess they remodeled that building into a Starbucks now.

It rained most of last night and was still drizzling this morning for the race. The good news is likely no walkers or runners got heat prostration like some usually do most years when it is around 100 degrees. At 8:30 it was only 53 degrees and drizzling some so that wasn't a problem today.

I saw a friend from my childhood from the Saint Germain Foundation which was wonderful too who was running as a 78 year old in the race too. We had met in Shasta Springs when I was between 5 and 7 years old which would have made him between 9 and 11 years of age back in the 1950s. It's great to meet old friends you haven't seen in several years!

It was drizzling this morning and rained last night but so far it made it up to 61 degrees today as of about noon. At 8 am it was 53 degrees so it wasn't over 55 degrees during the foot races here in mt. Shasta
