In other words if people around the world don't find ways to protect themselves from extreme heat and extreme cold and droughts and floods then they might not be around this time next year or very long here on earth at the very least.
So, things just changed this summer in a really serious way. Too much heat is something I have dealt with too as a much younger person. I have extremely fine and hot hair because my heritage is from Scotland on my mother's side so I was susceptible to heat stroke when working outside as a young man. The worst it got was when I switched for a summer from a position at an Electronics company to planting trees near Mt. Shasta when I couldn't adapt to 100 plus temperatures fast enough and suffered heat stroke near Quincy, California while tree planting then. This was likely between 1976 and 1977 because I remember my son being 2 to 3 years old and on a previous trip out tree planting from Mt. Shasta My wife and son had traveled with us (the tree planting crew). At the time this was a good job (at least for the summer because a good planter could make about 100 dollars a day which was a lot of money then.
So, heat prostration I can speak a lot to because of my experiences in life. So, the first thing you need to know is if your brain gets cooked by the sun it's pretty serious and if you are younger like in your teens or 20s and are feeling immortal like I did then, then it is even more likely you can have problems from heat prostration. Because I was also a mountain climber I also almost died in the winter of 1970 from freezing to death on mt. Shasta in a blizzard. So, I have dealt with both heat prostration and Hypothermia as well from mountain climbing in the winter time.
The more you know about what to do (if you are going to be outside anywhere on earth in the summertime) or when it gets hot (which nowadays might be any time of the year some places) the more likely you will survive in your life to a ripe old age.
I'm 74 so I can definitely tell you that living to this age doesn't happen by accident. You really have to work at it. At least I did because without my present wife I likely would have died from a heart virus at age 50 and not be around anymore.
So, the more you can learn (if you are going to be outside at all) about hypothermia and heat prostration the more likely you will actually make it to around my age (mid 70s).
