Being caught out in the rain when the rain is 80 to 90 Degrees (as long as you are wearing Bermuda shorts and clothes that dry easily) is okay. I remember being on the Road to Hana on Maui and we were all swimming at the Black Sand Beach at Waianapanapa State Beach there. We were walking up to the car the 7 to 10 of us including all my children then and it just poured like it only can in tropical places with raindrops as big as my thumb in width. So, in about 10 seconds you are completely drenched to the bone no matter what you are wearing. At first we were all making a mad dash for the Mini-van that could fit us all and then we started laughing because it wasn't a problem because we had been snorkeling and only carrying our masks and snorkels and towels really anyway. So, we just laughed all together at how funny it was to be wet with it feeling like we were in a very warm shower. So, rain this time of year on the Hawaiian Islands is okay to be out in as long as what you are wearing isn't harmed by the rain. It's a different world here than most places in the U.S. except for maybe Florida.
