He said, "we're not talking about something that's going to happen 100 years from now we are talking about during the next decade" What he is referring to is a complete melt off of the north pole during the fall months.
Jeremy is director of arctic Research for Noah (this is from the Saturday CBS Weekend News from April 22nd 2017 on TV). The ice is thinning. It used to be 9 feet thick but now it is down to an average of 3 feet thick this time of year.
We care about the arctic because it has connections to the entire northern Hemisphere. The warming arctic is causing the jet stream to wobble across America helping to spawn massive weather events. And the number of billion dollar weather events in 2017 is on track to set a record. And as America' s weather becomes more destructive early warnings become more critical. But scientists may lose their vital weather monitoring tools like Weather satellites targeted by the Trump administration.
Without those weather monitoring satellites more people are going to die each year without getting warnings of what is coming weather wise worldwide as a direct result of this.
I have also written before about how deaths will increase because of Trump worldwide. The lack of weather satellites still working because of Trump is going to be one of these killers not just in the U.S. but also worldwide because weather forecasters worldwide also use U.S. satellites to monitor weather there too.
