Things to be aware of as a blogger

First of all you don't want to quote things and then charge for your site or have advertisements there. If money is involved it makes it more likely that people upset about you quoting their stuff might sue you for economic damages.

However, if you are not making money in the first place like my site it is an entirely different thing and often sites like mine are seen simply as a non-profit site that takes in no money at all and doesn't intend to. So, your site is seen then as a world wide public service because many billions of people cannot receive the kinds of news we can here in the U.S. and Europe unless it is through a blog like this one by Google that literally goes anywhere Google Goes worldwide.

Everyone has to figure out what they feel comfortable doing and I have been blogging now since 1999 to 2007 at a site at Geocities. Then I bought a site at Yahoo business that I pay for where I can store my longer writings. Because it is hard to find them at this site sometimes but easy to find them there if you want to read them there at dragonofcompassion.com

Also, giving credit to whoever you are quoting is very very important so no one can accuse you of plagiarism. Maybe once in a while you forget but if the majority of time you remember to either give a word button or a URL this likely is okay. Sometimes I forget or I cannot put "Begin quote from" or end quote from because of software issues especially if I'm quoting Wikipedia stuff because of Wiki markup language issues (because it is simplicity itself) and not meant to be a complicated language and was created especially for wikipedia contributors to more easily program their articles.)

Later: One more thing you do not any longer have to learn HTML to have a blog site. But, you do have to learn some things like how to use the edit function if you want to quote anything more easily. If you are here at blogger.com (blogspot) through Google this goes worldwide by the way anywhere that Google goes worldwide. But, if you want to share pictures that you have taken look up in "Compose" and see next to the word link there is a tiny picture. Click on that. to more easily do this you need to get your photos onto your desktop somehow. You can email to yourselves and then put them on your desktop of your computer. Then click this tiny picture and find the designation of your photo while in Desktop (if you are on a mac or a macbook pro). Otherwise on a PC I'm not sure how to do this anymore because I haven't used one regularly since 2005 at this point. I switched to Macs and Macbook Pro Laptops simply because I got tired of dealing with computer crashes and viruses since I bought my first IBM Clone AT in 1987 and have been very happy ever since.

I have watched people try to do what I do with a PC and think I'm much faster using a Macbook pro or a mac than they are at what they are trying to to as well. But, that's just my preference. My son prefers custom built PCs for computer games that he builds himself from parts he buys through Amazon with free shipping from Amazon Prime, but he also has a Macbook pro laptop as well for other things.
