2011: Most destructive Weather year in U.S. in History
1000 killed. 12 weather disasters each with a cost of 1 billion dollars in damage or more. The most before was 9 weather disasters with a cost of 1 billion or more in 2009. 748 tornadoes in April alone. E5 in Joplin, Missouri 7th deadliest tornado in history with 160 dead. groundhog day blizzard through out the year a very deadly year. a horrible year. 3000 records broken this year. Drought and the wildfires in Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. Then Hurricane Irene raked the East Coast. And more could be on the way. Expected are more extreme events than previously in our history. As per NBC Nightly News Saturday night December 10th, 2011.
