Rebels Shoot down Syrian Warplane

News: Syria crisis: Rebels 'shoot down' warplane

Please click on above News Article from BBC to read about Rebel shootdown of Warplane.

I have been reading lately about how since the Rebels now Control several Turkish Border Checkpoints as well as all the territory between the Northern Border and Allepo that many stinger type hand held missiles can now easily move into that area around Allepo. So, even though this particularly shoot down was with Anti-aircraft Guns (AK AK?) you will likely start to see many Syrian planes and helicopters starting to be brought down with Stinger type hand held missiles much like when the U.S. gave Osama Bin Laden's Mujahedin group in the 1980s stinger missiles and they began shooting down Russian Migs and large military helicopters then. At that time this was one of many factors in addition to Chernobyl that brought down the Soviet Union and collapsed the government within about 5 years of that then.

This might eventually result not only a collapse of the Syrian Government under Assad but also leading from this might be the collapse of the present Iranian government as well. So, do not be surprised if this turns into an all out war between NATO including Turkey against Iran as this whole thing unravels with time during the next few years.

However, there are many ways to look at this. Because right now there is a certain kind of uneasy balance between the Shia Muslims, Iran, Hezbollah, Majority Iraq and minority Shia Syria against Turkey, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and other primarily Sunni Muslim Countries.

But remember, Osama Bin Laden was A Sunni Terrorist and also had an understanding of the more extreme Wasabi Sunni point of view that springs up from Saudi Arabia. If Iran and the Shia Muslims are collapsed as governments into a minority in Syria, Iraq and Iran this would shift the balance of power. And the balance of power of the Muslim Sects through extremists might then be directed against NATO and the Christian West once again if Syria and Iran both Collapse as Shia ruled Governments.

So, would Syria and Iran with collapsed governments be better than what is happening now? It is difficult to say. It could be much worse than now for a short or long period of time. However, the world does not stay in any static state for long if at all  and we should prepare for almost any short or long term outcome there in the Middle East.
