CNN Poll: Do Americans agree with Obama on climate change, immigration?

President Barack Obama used his second inaugural address to put the divisive issues of climate change and immigration back on the front burner.
But according to a new national survey, Americans are divided over whether global warming is a man made phenomenon.
According to the poll, which was conducted last week, 49% agree with the White House that global warming is a proven fact and is due to emissions from cars, power plants and factories. That's twice as high as the number who say that global warming has not been proven, as well as the 24% who say that it is a proven fact but is not due to manmade sources. But the 49% figure is down seven points from 2007.
The president also used his speech to highlight the controversial issue of illegal immigration, and a CNN/ORC International survey released Tuesday also indicates that a bare majority of the public says the main focus of the federal government should be on developing a plan that would allow undocumented immigrants to become legal residents, rather than deporting them.

Even I question Global Warming as to what the cause or causes are. For example, as I study all this more I believe a major contribution to Global Warming is caused by the present overpopulation and overconsumption of the earth's resources. However, another component I have discovered through my researches is that we may also be entering a Geomagnetic Excursion which likely began maybe around 1900. Scientists began to notice that Magnetic North then was moving about 5 miles a year. The scientific fact that it has slowly progressed to moving over 40 miles a year and is still increasing it's movement towards Siberia might also mean that we are entering a Geomagnetic Excursion:

    Effects (of a Geomagnetic Excursion)

Since no excursions have been recorded within human history, it is unknown precisely what effects one would have. However, it is likely that nothing serious would occur, as the human species has certainly lived through at least one such event; Homo erectus and possibly Homo heidelbergensis lived through the Matuyama reversal with no known ill effect, and excursions are shorter lived and do not result in permanent changes to the magnetic field. The major hazard to modern society is likely to be similar to those associated with geomagnetic storms, where satellites and power supplies may be damaged, although compass navigation would also be affected. Some forms of life which are thought to navigate based on magnetic fields may be disrupted, but again it is suggested that these species have survived excursions in the past. Since excursion periods are not always global, any effect might well only be experienced in certain places, with others relatively unaffected. The time period involved could be as little as a century, or as much as 10,000 years.

    Possible relationship to climate

There is evidence that geomagnetic excursions may be associated with episodes of rapid short-term climatic cooling during periods of continental glaciation (ice ages).[3]

    • So, if we are indeed in a period of the first century or so of a 1000 year to 10,000 year geomagnetic Excursion, then weather changes of the sort we are now seeing might be expected as well as a degredation of our magnetosphere (in fact our magnetosphere now has holes or "cracks" since 2000 or so that have been documented by scientists) which cause about as much radiation to hit earth and to cause dna mutation as something like Chernobyl or Three Mile Island or more. However, most of these holes or cracks are in the polar circles where Auroras are more visible to the naked eye. And since Geomagnetic excursions are also associated with Ice Ages, the present heat increase could also wobble into an ice age. So, it is potentially possible within the next 1000 to 10,000 years people would first gravitate to the north and south poles because of warmer climates only to experience an ice age towards both poles.
    •
    • So, as a result being very adaptive is important to the ongoing survival of the human race. So, migrations both to the north or south or even back to the equator at certain points will allow for the survival of some humans if this is true.
    •
    • Also, potential further evidence of a Geomagnetic excursion is the beaching of whales and sometimes dolphins and a confusion navigation wise of birds and other migrational animals as to where they are and where they are going especially during migration patterns. To some degree it will also affect humans living a more back to the earth or primitive lifestyle because of the magnetic bone in the hard part of a human nose that is potentially sensitive to the location of magnetic north. Hence the term "Follow your nose".
