Mt. Shasta and The Hobbit

In 1969 and 1970 while I was on a summer break from College I read "The Hobbit" and The "Lord of the Rings Trilogy" while visiting Shasta for a few weeks. I remember running through the wild woods there with thimble berries and wild Blackberries growing wild everywhere and thinking I was in "Hobbit land" and with Tom Bombadil and Goldberry. It was a great time to be alive on planet earth camping out then at Panther Meadows and Horse Camp with the views for 50 to 100 miles or more looking out from about 9000 feet or so on the mountain then. And meeting people visiting the area from all over the United States and around the world. It was amazing to be 21 and 22 in those years and on a college summer break with my car and sleeping bag and a tent and many of my friends from Southern California and from all over the country and world back then. Recently I went to see the Hobbit one more time with some of those friends from the old days and it brought back all the amazing memories of the 1960s and 1970s on summer breaks and later vacations from work or businesses that I owned. I played the Guitar a lot then with other friends who played musical instruments then around campfires under the stars and one of the songs we liked to sing was "Colorado Rocky Mountain High" by John Denver. Only sometimes we changed the words a little for Mt. Shasta. We sang "California Shasta Mountain High, I've seen it raining fire in the sky."

And then there were always the UFO's and Lenticular Clouds around Shasta which help maintain all the legends there about the place. It's always been my spiritual home here on earth ever since I was born in Seattle and blessed there by Mrs. Ballard, (an "I AM" Messenger)  in 1948 when I was 2 months old there in Mt. Shasta.
