There are presently 460 Texas teachers being trained to use guns and to carry them at school concealed and the same with 1,100 in Ohio. 200 took the training in Utah. Also, one county in Ohio is training school custodians to carry weapons as well to protect children in their schools. Most of this training is offered for free to teachers and paid for by state and/or local governments. It is likely that weapons in some areas would be provided by states and local governments in some cases as well, just like they are provided to the local police throughout the country.
All facts from NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams on January 11th 2013.
I would think that upper end semi-automatic pistols that can be designed to only allow the teacher to fire the gun and no one else would be the best choice. That way no child or perpetrator could grab the weapon and fire it by accident.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
