Some of the special effects in this movie are truly remarkable like when a human face is rebuilt in a medical healing table automatically. The movie is in some ways state of the art for visual effects. Matt Damon is an orphan who grows up in a world where Los Angeles in I believe the 2050s looks a lot like the slums of Rio De Janeiro in the present. He grows up listening to a Catholic nun along with another little girl his friend in likely a Catholic Orphanage. He gets radiated in a factory accident and needs to fly up into space to Elysium to get healed. The rest is the story of the movie. Excellent Science Fiction movie. Many people believe we are already there with oceans (like the Pacific and Atlantic) separating advanced medicine from much of the world's poor already.
