I obviously am really upset at a very deep level about my wife's knee and how it is affecting her life and through her my life.
After I woke up this morning my wife informed me by phone that I had been talking in my sleep last night about how awful everything to do with her pain with her knee was and how awful it was.
What is strange to me is that I have absolutely no memory of this whatsoever which is sort of odd of you are an intuitive because you tend to be able to remember things at a much deeper level than most people. For example, I can remember what it was like to be a baby suckling at my mother's breast. But, it is strange because in that state you are not civilized yet. I remember thinking sort of like an animal would that I would do literally anything to get the milk from my mother's breast to survive. So, absolutely every learned behavior was only about one thing, survival.(At least at that point in my life before I became a civilized conditioned human being. At that point I was an uncivilized baby only like everyone else is too at that point. People might imagine their kids civilized with culture but they aren't yet. Not really. Kids do what they do to survive only at first to make sure you will feed them and change their diapers and protect them from harm.
So, when I was informed about talking in my sleep being very upset about my wife having a problem with her knee it made me realize how deep seated this issue now is with me. I mentioned to my wife that this was the worst health problem I have had to deal with regarding any woman I have ever lived with outside of pregnancy.
I do, however, remember waking up in the middle of the night and feeling sort of haunted when I got up to go to the bathroom. This likely was just after this incident of talking in my sleep while my wife listened to what I said. But somehow, it is nice to know she listened to what my subconscious mind was saying and that I was very worried about her well being and mine through all this.
Many people these days are going to places like South Korea or Thailand for knee replacement surgeries. My wife even got a price of $5000 to get it done in South Korea which presently still has the best health care system on earth of any country.
However, if you are considering something like this just remember right now it is presently 21 to 25 degrees Fahrenheit going for a high of 39 degrees right now. And in Bangkok, Thailand it is presently 77 degrees Fahrenheit going for a high of 90 presently with 78 percent humidity.
note: Even when I was in Thailand for the first time in December 1985 it was the single hottest most humid place I had been any time of the year at that point. We slept with our veranda door open, ceiling fans spinning with only a single sheet on the bed and we were still too hot at night sleeping. And that was December.
But then, we factored in the 6 weeks (at least) for most people recovery time on crutches where you might not want to be flying on planes yet. So, when my wife factored all this in as an expense she kind of thought that maybe doing it where where we own our own home might be the best expense wise in the end.
That's the thing. Even if you get something done cheaply overseas where are you going to go to recover that isn't going to break the bank. So, unless you are young enough to tough out a trans ocean flight (usually between 10 to 17 hours one way to or from San Francisco or Los Angeles) (After the operation) you might want to rethink how expensive all this is going to be.
Because it is not just the operation, it is also the recovery time and that expense too wherever you are.
So, we are mulling all these courses of actions.
Also, a knee replacement surgery is likely only good for about 20 years. So, are you going to endure this 20 years from now again if you are young enough then? The same likely is true of a hip replacement as well.
But, I imagine over time people will find ways of having 50 to 100 year good knee replacements and ball joint replacements. At that point you really might want to call people who survive 150 to 200 years or more cyborgs because we are all becoming more like that by the day with replacement teeth, hips, joints (you name it).
