New Vegetarians? and Sticker Shock?

If you have looked at meat prices lately and have not been a vegetarian yet you likely are having "sticker shock" from just how high meat prices have gotten lately. And they are sure to rise much more over the next several years.

You might ask, "Why is this?"

The main reason is the weather in the U.S. and around the world. Whenever water or weather is completely unpredictable (for example it snowed around April 15th in Denver up to 12 inches or more in one day) which is pretty strange for this time of year. Whenever the weather is this crazy animals don't get enough grass because it is under snow or don't have grass because there is no rain or can't get at their water because it is frozen. (need I go on). So, it becomes too impossible to raise animals to make any profit on them enough to make it worthwhile. So, ranchers have to sell their cattle(often to the slaughter) and keep a few of the best animals for breeding or even sell all animals so they can maybe break even for the year.

This is happening worldwide also because of radical weather changes of various kinds worldwide.

So, as the price of meat everywhere goes up to a place where only middle class people and above can afford to actually eat any or much of it, more people need to learn how to be "Healthy" while being
"Mostly vegetarian" in their lives.

I can help with this because I was a vegetarian 100% until I was about 32 to 35 years of age when I met Tibetan Lamas who told me I should eat some meat. The reason I listened to them a little was that I saw unemployment at 10% in 1980 around there and survivalists were springing up all over thinking the U.S. government was going to collapse which it would have if the rest of the world hadn't lent us money. Then came the Savings and Loan collapse which made many people commit suicide who lost all their savings in savings and loans around the country here in the U.S.

So, my thought was that if I could tolerate a little meat in an emergency I could hunt deer and other animals to survive and take care of my family. So, it wasn't that I wanted to eat meat it was that I wanted to survive what was happening in the U.S. and here on earth as the U.S. moved towards bankruptcy after the Viet Nam War financial debacle combined with the Arab Oil Embargo and the beginning of the OPEC Oil cartel at that time which tripled and quadrupled gas and diesel prices and completely changed the lifestyle and economy of the U.S. at that time.

But now, the culprit is global climate changes from overpopulation of the earth which is different.
The biggest change in the world grain reserves happened in 2006 in Australia when a Megadrought brought the world's grain food reserves down from 130% to 100% or below. Because transportation of food greatly raises prices, people in third world countries began to starve more at an alarming rate and it has been this way pretty much ever since. This panic to get food and stay alive among the poor moved up the food chain to the rich and they began to make very bad decisions which resulted in the Great Recession in 2007 and 2008 as it started.

So, seeing the Great Recessions causes in Global Climate Change is very realistic. When people try to blame financiers it doesn't really get to the root of the problem the world is dealing with now and will in the future as well in a worse way.

Also, what Russia is doing is also a part of survival and starvation in Russia and Ukraine more than anything else too. You aren't likely going to hear this in the news because nations don't want people to panic by hearing the truth.

Only the most efficient at growing food around the world as nations will actually survive what is coming very well. And even some of the most efficient of nations like the U.S., Canada and Europe are going to have more and more of a rough time because there already isn't enough meat at prices people can afford if they are below middle class in their incomes.

If you HAVE to be pretty much vegetarian what should you eat to stay healthy?

If you live in the U.S. your two best friends are: Organic Potatoes and Organic Brown rice (all varieties).

These two things (especially organically grown baked potatoes) and secondly Organic brown rice
are staples that can keep you going through the meat price debacle which likely will get worse.
It is important also that you get greens (if possible) like organically grown lettuce of many varieties. And also, if possible get organically grown vegetables (even if you have to grow them yourselves). I have done this when things were the most economically tough especially from 1989 to 1992.

However, by 1995 I was back on top again and by the time I was forced to retire from a heart virus I was wealthy. So, in life you have to be prepared for anything. Literally you might have to endure(for richer for poorer in sickness and in health) whether or not you are rich or poor right now or not or whether you are married with children or not.

However, if you are going to eat baked potatoes, for example, a person can actually survive and be relatively healthy just on Organically grown baked potatoes IF they eat the skins as well as the meat of the potato.

The only other single thing a person can live on in an emergency (that I presently know of) is Coconuts. However, if you are trying to survive on coconuts you have to be living next to coconut palms all around you to do this. You have to drink and eat coconuts at all stages of development in order to survive on them and it isn't a very pleasant experience because you usually will have the runs doing this. However, you can survive a long time especially if you supplement with little animals or vegetables or fish or a combination.

A study was done in the 1800s on Irish prisoners and they fed them only baked potatoes and as long as they ate the peels they were fine for several years only eating baked potatoes.

You might get really bored on either of these diets but you will survive and be healthy.

Note: My wife was telling me of one more thing that people might live on. However, unless you live somewhere they actually grow all the time I can't see how this would be useful.

Her statement was that dates are something that one can "almost" live on. But, unless you live in the middle east or the Palm Springs and Indio area of California I can't really see how helpful knowing this actually is. Also, I would think eating that many dates might contribute to some people becoming diabetic to because of the high amount of date sugar in dates.
