One of the reasons Obama doesn't really want to impose increased sanctions is that this would be the likely result for Russia. But, he figures it is better than sending in tanks and missiles and jets and starting a nuclear war. But, when the sanctions happen, millions of people who are workers and investors in Russia will go bankrupt within a year or two. This will also happen to anyone from outside of Russia whose complete investment in a job or business investment was in Russia. So, basically anyone economically tied to Russia in any capitalistic way likely will be hurt greatly or go bankrupt once Obama institutes Full Sanctions.
This likely will send Russia into a complete financial tailspin in many many ways. This might be part of Putin's plan to reinstitute a communist totalitarian state like Russia had throughout most of the 20th century because he liked that better than the last 20 years or so.
However, this likely would cause the deaths of millions of Russians who would starve during the next 10 to 20 years. So, Putin is focusing his propaganda on vilifying europe and the U.S. and telling lies to his people about what he is actually doing in Ukraine.
So, we may be witnessing the worst economic disaster since the Great Recession first started in the U.S. in 2007 and 2008 only this time in Russia over the next 10 to 20 years.
