As one grows up (if one has a conscience) one notices that without compassion for oneself one might not survive. And Secondly, without compassion for all beings in the past, present and future no one else might survive either.
This is where it begins. As one realizes these truths one begins to learn to generate compassion for oneself and all beings wherever they may be in the past, present and future. And if one is intelligent enough, others begin to assist you in manifesting compassion for oneself and all beings in all times.
This is the basis of civilization itself. This is the basis of civilizations surviving together here on earth.
Do, religions help in this?
Yes and No.
Religions are helpful in generating compassion. But, when they become too dogmatic they begin to caused insanity and cause people's deaths. We can witness this every day on the news today.
So, though religions can help in one area of the world, they tend to come into conflict on a worldwide basis because of different values.
However, having compassion for oneself both inside and outside of all religions is helpful in all contexts as long as it is right mindful, efficient compassion.
In other words, the kind of compassion I'm talking about here is a type of engineering of the survival of all human beings on earth in the past, present and future. And it is also engineering the ongoing survival of all beings in the universe.
For example, we have too many people on earth, there are just too many people to feed now. Compassion would be to create birth control in a way that wouldn't scare people so overpopulation doesn't just create so many wars that everyone died in the end of being killed over food and water.
How does one manifest this creative birth control so everyone doesn't have to die this century and beyond in really horrific ways?
This thought is an act of compassion for oneself and all beings.
Within many religious contexts this isn't useful.
However, within right mindful compassion unless something is done now, we all are going to die quite horrifically this century and beyond the way things are presently going.
So, how does one manifest this compassion for the human race by saving the human race from it's own excesses?
This is the compassionate question of our era.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
