However, another way to look at it is this: Russia and China's and Iran's involvement in the middle East helped create ISIS. ISIS has really caused havoc to France, Lebanon, Yemen, Iraq and Syria so far. So, it could be said that what Russia, China and Iran are doing in the middle East is helping unravel parts of Europe through what happened today in France and through millions of refugees pouring into Europe now. Both terrorist actions against european union countries and refugees pouring into Europe both harm the economic and governmental stability of all of Europe. Since the U.S. is allied with Europe often Against Russia, Iran and China, I think this is what Carson was trying to get at.
However, just getting rid of ISIS solves nothing because all that is going to do is to inflame the anger of 1.2 billion Sunnis against the Christian world and likely create a worst Jihad against Russia and Iran to begin with. And things would even be worse than they are now in Europe as well. So, what harms Europe harms the U.S. too. So, I think this is where he was trying to go but most people don't understand all this enough to get this.
