You Are What you Eat

The first person that actually got through to me regarding this statement was my first wife. She was a health foodist and a pure foodist at that time. She basically said, "Not only does everything you eat affect your body it also affects your mind like a drug. So, you are going to experience and perceive reality in different ways depending upon what you eat."

Because this was the early 1970s and the drug culture was happening then I took this rather seriously because of all the people I had already seen go crazy or die from drugs at that time in the world. Also, it is important to note that people were so upset about the Viet Nam war and everybody either dying or coming home in a box or coming back crazy with PTSD and sometimes killing their whole families and things like that.

So, I took the statement about everything you eat has a drug like affect upon you so it is important to find out what different foods prepared different ways do to your mind and body. Because even then I knew that individual people have somewhat different reactions to the same foods. So, it is very important to find out what foods your body will do the best with to make your life the best it can be in every way.

So, learning what kinds of foods are going to help take you to where you actually want to go rather than just eating anything that might take you to being dead or in jail or something like that.

In fact, I realized then that often the reason people take drugs(at least partly) is because of a really bad diet in the first place.

So, learning to make choices that keep you alive and healthy both in mind and body helps keep you alive and able to make good decisions rather than bad ones. So, you can actually have a future you actually can stand to live.
