What you need to know
- Iran's military leader killed: Qasem Soleimani, top general and one of the most powerful men in Iran, was killed in a drone strike at Baghdad airport early today. His deputy was also killed.
- Trump ordered the strike: Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the airstrikes disrupted an "imminent attack" in the region that put American lives at risk.
- US deploying troops: The US is sending thousands of additional troops to the Middle East in response, according to a US defense official.
end quote from CNN.
To understand the ramifications of all this almost anything is now possible. For example, if Iran now attacks U.S. military or civilian personnel either in the Middle East, Europe or the U.S. that could be considered at act of war that will trigger NATO response of all NATO allies in this situation. So, just remember this is very very serious and could result in the end of Iran as an existing nation and the deaths of thousands to millions of Iranians or Americans at this point.
What do I think about all this?
I think Trump just got us into a war with Iran as a smokescreen to take attention off the impeachment of Trump. So, thousands to millions may die now just to protect Trump from the fallout from his impeachment. That's what I think. It's a completely contrived war in other words that was completely unnecessary for anyone to die from.
