Kindness is the basis of all civilization

Kindness starts with the family. If you don't have a good family then no one trains you to be kind and then when you grow up if you don't know when to be kind someone is likely to shoot you (especially here in the U.S.).

I was pretty lucky because my parents were Mystical Christian ministers. So, I learned to be kind to everyone very early (between 5 and 12 years old) because my parents insisted on it. At the time I didn't like having to be nice and kind to everyone but as I grew up I saw more and more the usefulness of being able to talk to anyone rich or poor or crazy or whatever along the way. This way I could survive things in life that most other people might not be able to.

Mostly it's just about politeness. and having the grace to have good manners and to see everyone as being somewhat like yourselves in that we all suffer with sometimes different problems.

Rich people have as many problems as poor ones do, it's just that poor people's problems are usually more obvious.

Understanding this one can learn to help all sorts of people with all sorts of problems just by listening to them and giving them an ear. Sometimes you don't need to say anything to them. Sometimes you just need to listen to people who are suffering and they can figure out what's wrong for themselves and then maybe you can offer them suggestions to help them.

If it's not your problem sometimes it's easier to find solutions to other people's problems than it is to solve your own.

And sometimes if you help them solve their problems they will help you solve your own.

This is Civilization.
