Californians were taken advantage of by energy companies too during the early 2000s. Governor was impeached over it. Similar to Texas now!

 It's been almost 20 years now so it might be hard for me to recall it all. However, somehow Californians got duped by energy companies into the same "Flexible Rate" Scandal that Texans are dealing with now where single women have 6000 dollar electric bills even though their power might have totally been shut off during the whole polar vortex thing recently. 

It took Gray Davis getting impeached (recalled) and
