We didn't notice it much at first because there was no sun much the last months or so because of the overcast high and low fog that comes ashore when it is hot inland like it has been. But, the last two days we might have moved to our next type of weather where there is more sun which comes along in recent years somewhere usually in August. So, our weather is somewhat overcast from (this year) from about April through August from high and low fog along the coast.
However, like I said now the sun is orange from the smoke. You cannot smell it much but my wife starting coughing a little from it so we closed up all the windows and doors instead of keeping all the screens with the air and wind coming through them. We have two air purifiers going 24 hours a day.
We started several years ago with a Winix Brand air purifier that needs filters changed about every 2 months or so. But, then a friend of ours had an Austin which is an American brand of Air filter system which only needs it's filters changed about every 5 years or so as long as it isn't filtering too much pollen, dust or smoke out of the air for you. So, my wife bought a larger Austen which we run in our living room now too in addition to the Winix one from South Korea that our son recommended while he was living there for around 5 years working over there. South Korea can get really bad air blowing across the Yellow Sea from Beijing you see. I've been there when the air is bad and when it's bad it's really bad from particulates in the air. This is one reason people are used to wearing masks in South Korea and China by the way because Beijing air from smoke is some of the worst air on earth at some times of the year (but probably not all the time).
So, this is how we learned how important air filtration systems are in filtering out pollen, mold and dust particles from the air. They also filter out smoke as well. So, now (as long as we are here) we just leave both air filters working 24 hours a day filtering all mold, pollen, smoke or dust from our air in our home.
It tends to keep us much healthier doing this.
The reason most of the smoke hasn't been that bad yet is that the prevailing winds are off the ocean and to the east and a little to the north. So, if you look at a smoke map:

You can see just how bad the smoke is all over most of North America above Mexico right now.
