Spiritual but not Religious

I started out in life being a child of two Mystical Christian Ministers of a church in Los Angeles. They ran this church from 1954 until 1960 when my mother's father died and my mother sort of had a breakdown which often happens when a close loved one dies in someone's life.

I too was devastated when my father died in 1985 when he didn't have to if he had used the medical care available to him. However, it is possible that his choice was just that he realized he didn't want to go on anymore too. That's possible too. The "Old Guard" faced many things that most of us now don't usually have to face. My father was born in 1916 when it was much more "dangerous" to be alive than now too.

I didn't set out to be "Spiritual but not religious" but this is mostly what people of my generation did because they felt failed by the churches in their lives.

Part of this was the molestation that went on and still goes on in almost every church on earth of children and women of all ages. I think the obvious molestation of people in churches worldwide who were forced in one way or another not to talk about being molested is likely what has caused the move towards becoming "Spiritual but not Religious" around the world now.

It's about Trust and realizing that people in Churches couldn't really be trusted regarding the truth in people's lives worldwide.

Even now, it is about Religious terrorists around the world killing people that has driven church attendance here in the U.S. from around 80% of the people when I grew up to only 40% of the people in the U.S. going to church now.

This is a real sea change for people.

What is "Spiritual but not religious" all about?

It's about a personal connection to God without a church or minister looking over your shoulder and telling you what to do in your life.

You haven't given up your personal connection to God, you have just given up the potentially molesting minister of a church molesting you or your children instead.

Is this good?

I think better said: "It has become necessary for most people to take this view in order to survive their lives."

I think it is both good and bad in many ways but I'm  saying it is necessary worldwide in these times to survive your lives better here on earth.

By God's Grace
