Imagine not raising the debt ceiling and defaulting on our loans from China. Then the Chinese economy collapses and then it's like a Jenga game where all the wooden pieces collapse only each wooden piece is one of the smaller economies on earth. Does McConnell and the Republican party want to take FULL BLAME for that? I don't think so.
Because not raising the debt ceiling likely will do that.
However, I suppose there is another way to look at this:
McConnell might believe that raising the debt ceiling is not sustainable for the U.S. and will eventually cause economic collapse here. If he truly believes this then causing a collapse of the world economy would be useful in trying to make the U.S. financially solvent long term.
Who is ultimately right here?
It's hard to say. In the short term not raising the debt ceiling will definitely collapse the whole world economy worse than the Great Depression did in 1929 to the point where it might never recover.
But, it could also be true that debt beyond which the U.S. has is not sustainable without causing permanent economic collapse of the U.S. too.
So, which do you believe?
What people believe in the end is what will take us forward or kill us all here on earth.
We are presently in a Lifeboat scenario both here in the U.S. and around the world. We don't really know what would happen if McConnell won't raised the debt ceiling until he doesn't do it.
However, is he willing to have the whole Republican Party blamed for world Economic Collapse?
Maybe he is!
We are about to see what he will do.
