8 billion people on the surface of Earth is not sustainable for hundreds or thousands of years

This is why: (one way or another) we likely will see a decrease of about 7 billion people here on earth between now and 2100 AD.

Yes. I know this is horrific to contemplate but it's sort of like in some ways the Titanic sinking without enough lifeboats or at least enough life boats that people will actually allow to be filled. So, I would say getting prepared for what happens when people get desperate enough is part of what this century is about.

The first parts of this century we are already seeing. Covid which is caused by overpopulation of humans while depopulating other species to extinction. As species go extinct their niches in the ecology cause pandemics as birds and other species who don't carry diseases as much go extinct for one reason or another and are replaced by other bird and other species that do carry diseases which then infect one or more humans. In the case of Covid it's true it came likely from Bats whether the bats were bred to spread this in China or whether it happened naturally might be debatable but what is important in the end is could you survive it? Since you are still alive the answer at least for you is "Yes" I could survive it so far.

The fight for Ukraine is the first war over resources in the 21st century that has gotten the whole world's attention. Putin has demonstrated how out of touch with the rest of the world he really is in all this and as a result things likely won't go well for him on any level because of this from now on.

The point of all this is that people are going to likely die this century either in wars, from starvation, or from Global Climate changes of floods, very high winds over 100 mph to 300 mph winds or more or droughts which is a much slower death from droughts worldwide.

The point is all this is coming which will likely cause about 7 billion of our number to reduce down to 1 billion or less by the end of this century. This is what is coming this century for everyone it appears right now.
