Moving underground is the ONLY way outside of leaving the planet and colonizing another one where 7 billion of our number wouldn't have to be allowed to die from Global Climate changes this century.
Understanding this is important for everyone's sense of well being.
I'm thinking if all above ground cities and buildings were torn down and turned into parks and farms that we could possibly have about 13 to 14 billion people alive worldwide living mostly underground.
BUT ONLY IF WE ALL MOVE UNDERGROUND and convert cities and houses to parks and farmland worldwide!
Otherwise, the surface of earth CANNOT keep 8 billion people alive only about 1 billion or less people alive for thousands of years here on earth.
Most people don't seem to understand this. But, if you fully study what is presently going on this is the truth that most people would have to face to continue 8 billion or more people alive on earth.
NOTE:
This also would solve another problem which is that increasing heat in the oceans will also increase significantly winds and warmer air will also increase the amount of rain and moisture in the AIR worldwide. So, moving underground (not in flood plains) or near rivers could save the human race from extinction caused by overpopulation in houses and cities.
IF you live in flood plains having a boat tied up to take refuge in during a flood is a good idea if it is on a hauling trailer of some kind where you can move it with a car or truck to a good location to launch it in an emergency of some kind. The best would be a sailboat (don't need gas or diesel but only wind to move) that can sleep the number of your family or a cabin cruiser that sleeps the number of your family available during flooding as well. Also, putting your house on stilts as the ocean rises might be useful too if you are near floodplains or rivers or rising ocean waters on tides.
Once again by moving underground and tearing down all above ground buildings and houses we could theoretically at least keep alive about 13 to 14 billion people with most people living underground.
The way things are now with us all living on the surface of the earth we could only keep alive under 1 billion people or less for thousands of years at this point. So, if we keep doing what we are doing it means either human extinction this century (from likely a Pandemic like we just went through the last 2 years) or just so many storms and floods and droughts or an ice age or some other group of weather disasters.
So, even if you look at the winds increasing and blowing down ALL wooden structures worldwide you can see the wisdom (where practical) of moving underground so your house doesn't blow down in 300 mile per hour winds one day.
And also, building with a cement basement so you can escape there in heavy winds makes sense too (even if it floods later at some point as well). Finding ways to survive ANYTHING is how the human race might literally survive anything (at least some of us) ongoing.
