power was off for over 24 hours: just came on at about 1 AM Tuesday

I realized this morning that something wasn't right so I went to Home Depot and bought another Generator because my last one hasn't worked the last two winter seasons. I found out from a repairman that I had used Premium Gas because that is what is best for my motorcycle and that might have shortened the life of that generator. However, if you are trying to preserve food in your refrigerator or freezer if you save 400 to 1000 dollars of food going bad you just have paid for your generator too. So, when the power goes off it is almost better to eat at fast foods or restaurants and not buy more groceries because of this because if you don't have a generator it's all going to go bad within a day or two anyway. I'm not much of a meat eater but my son in law and my wife is so they already had to throw away a lot of really expensive meat from the freezer which is always sort of sad when this happens.

This is one reason I haven't been blogging lately because even when I finally after working all day to get a new generator from Home Depot and then putting the wheels on it and the handle so you can make it mobile and getting help to unload this thing from my truck because it is very heavy and not something most people should unload along unless they are using a block and tackle or something like this with a triangular thing as the fulcrum. I do have 3 8 foot long 2 by 4s that I could drill a hole in and I do have a very ancient block and tackle from my father and grandfather that I could have in a pinch set up to unload this thing at my present age of 74. However, luckily one of the ladies that works for us was there today taking down our Christmas decorations and she is very handy like me and helped me put on the wheels and axle and handle to pull it around.

But, you don't want to put it inside your home so I put the thing with the exhaust facing out my open garage instead to not get carbon monoxide poisoning for me or my family. But, even then I needed to close and lock the door to the garage from inside the house so that vapors didn't travel up to near the kitchen and living room.

IF you need (especially if you are anywhere in California because so many places have been evacuated. For Example, the Sacramento Area is evacuated a lot because the Sacramento River is flooding. Where I live on the coast the San Lorenzo River is flooding into Santa Cruz and Capitola through Ben Lomand which is likely evacuated now too.

Santa Barbara got hit really bad by this last storm and main streets have people kayaking down them now and Montecito is completely evacuated on the 5th anniversary of 25 people dying there in a mudslide and wiping parts of Montecito completely off the map a few years ago. Jeff Bridges had to be rescued along with this wife then by helicopter so he and his wife survived all that when the montecito mudslides happened and killed 25 people mostly in their sleep at night when it happened.

So, power outages are happening all over the state. over 24 hours this year is the longest so far and didn't help the food in our refrigerator or freezer very much at all.

I counted over 50 trees down in the area along the northern California coast that I live with my wife. That is a lot of trees down. But, the fire department and locals had cut up the ones that had fallen across roads that were the most hazardess.

Also, the storm that hit us was originally supposed to drop 10 inches of rain Sunday night but only dropped about 3 where we live instead. So, San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara it sounds like might have gotten the full 10 inches they originally thought would hit us here which is why they are kayaking down major highways now in the city of Santa Barbara.

Note: Such a large area of over 900 customers or more was out that this also knocked out all Internet and Cable TV too. So, even when I put the generator on I couldn't get Internet or cable. But, within and hour or two Cable came back on. And now that power is back on I can get internet WIFI too so I can put this article at my website online.
