Carl Jung was always ahead of his time

When I was young in college I read most of Herman Hesse's works like "Siddhartha, and Narcissus and Goldmund, Magister Ludi and the Glass bead Game, and others. Herman Hesse was a patient or student of Carl Jung and had an interesting take on life that I found very useful to read about as a college student at about that age. These books really helped me in many ways. The one I had the most trouble reading was "Steppenwolf" which got into the nitty gritty of becoming a young man and being self disciplined enough not to kill oneself or others. This book on Steppenwolf I found I had to put down because I found it just too upsetting at that time in my life.

I was already dealing with suicidal issues because my life wasn't going as I had planned it. However, my solution was to give up planning almost entirely and to learn to live my life more spontaneously and as a complete opportunist. I likely would not have survived my 20s if I had tried to plan my whole life at that time.

Everyone has to find a way forward and I was inspired by people like Carl Jung and Herman Hesse which eventually caused me to try to become a psychologist. Though I never became a psychologist because my girlfriend got pregnant and we got married instead my psychological studies have helped me and countless other people I have been able to counsel along the way. My parents as ministers counseled people while I was 6 to 12 years old and so I learned to counsel others too and became quite good at it starting by age 12 and after. I was always a good listener at that time in my life and very logical and pragmatic so I was always able help people who needed someone to listen to their problems and I facilitated solutions to their problems that kept them alive and mostly out of trouble ongoing.

By God's Grace
