We drove from Mt. Shasta to the San Francisco Bay area in order to not cook anymore in Mt. Shasta. It was 100 degrees there and presently as of 6 pm 96 degrees still. However, being in the mountains the temperatures should go down to at least 60 down in town. However, nights can still be chilly up on the mountain above 5000 feet on up.
I went to Castle Lake the day before we drove back to the ocean where it is foggy. this morning I could barely see any trees around us because the fog was so thick. Here today it was only 66 degrees with a low of 56 degrees tonight. Everyone and their little brother are here on the coast who can afford to do this for the cool weather right now. Likely getting any hotel on the coast might not possible in these conditions. However, camping might work some places or just parking your motor home wherever you can is what some people do to escape the heat inland.
Today my wife and I were grateful all the tourists are here in the cool weather rather than dying or going into the hospital with heat prostration.
Some other high temperatures around the country
110 Tucson
105 San Angelo Texas
102 Dallas
99 Corpus Christi
96 New Orleans
90 Atlanta
93 Jacksonville
95 Miami
The temperatures in places from Texas to Miami are actually more deadly than the super dry heat we have from Arizona to California where you might survive a little while in 125 degrees outside. But, where the humidity is bad anything above 80 or 90 degrees in full humidity might kill some people or put them in the hospital.
Another crazy place in the heat is most of Europe because they don't have air conditioners there. This is mostly because of how expensive electricity is in most of Europe because of high fuel costs. However, Solar and Wind power might be changing that a lot in Europe too now. I heard today over 60,000 people died in Europe last summer from the heat. So, if you are a tourist don't die over there because of no air conditioning anywhere much at all in Europe.
