begin quote from "The Art of Soaring" from the top of page 24:
"We offer here yet another possible world view. Let's pretend that we really are all immortal, all powerful beings---magicians.
This raises another question: What do immortal beings do? How could they possibly fill all that time? The answer is--- they amuse themselves. . . And how do they do that? With "games" of course!"
end quotes.
Even Jesus hinted to us all this when he said, "Even Greater things than these shall ye do" and "Ye Are Gods!"
When I was a baby and growing up my parents emphasized this kind of thinking of the fact that I was immortal and that every human being was a potential "God" just like Jesus intended us to think we were. Just like he thought of himself. So that we are all the "Sons and Daughters of God". This is not to de-emphasize Jesus as the Son of God. But to not realize what he actually was bringing to the people of those times is to be ignorant today. He brought a message of forgiveness but also of immortality and that we are all potential Gods here on earth and beyond and that we all will never die because we are not just bodies we are immortal souls as well. So, in order to not just be afraid of dying all the time like many people live one can see the immortality in life both right now and in the hereafter and begin living life to the full right here right now.
When Jesus was alive he was considered by the government the most outlandish and dangerous "to the government" person alive then. What he taught over time overthrew multiple governmental systems and changed the direction of the human race just like Buddha changed the direction of the human race 500 years before Jesus. And systems of governance and human rights and kindness towards one another have completely changed the way the human race has operated ever since.
However, even if you are an atheist and don't believe in any religious tradition, just from understanding psychology you can realize that considering yourself to be a God and immortal in your mind can be advantageous as long as one keeps their perspective about everyone else being a potential God too.
