Disneyland

My wife and I found ourselves without any of our kids in our lives for around 2 weeks. The first day my wife said was the most depressing day of her life. I guess we would both define ourselves as parents first. I guess if you are really a parent you never stop helping your kids and being involved in their lives so when they are gone for awhile(to college, or traveling or whatever) it might be kind of hard to deal with the temporary or permanent "Empty Nest Syndrome".

So, after visiting my cousin in Southern California for several days my wife and I decided to go to Disneyland and stay in one of the Hotels within walking distance. This turned out to be a really wonderful idea. We found it much easier than even coming in with a car and parking at the park for a single day. This way we were able to not have to deal with any kids at all. Not making going on rides our priority but rather walking around and sight seeing and watching shows and fireworks our priority instead. So, we stayed two nights and could walk into or out of both regular Disneyland in Anaheim or the "California Experience". The only rides we went on in two days were "Grizzly Rapids" in The California Experience and "The Pirates of the Caribbean" , and It's a small world and Captain Eo in Tomorrowland and we rode the Monorail for the first time since I was about 10 or 12 years old because my wife wanted to. We also saw the fireworks and Tinkerbell slide down the wire to Sleeping Beauty Castle twice too. It was a very adult kind of version of Disneyland but allowed us to deal with all our kids being somewhere else for 2 weeks and be okay with it and still have a good time.
