However, that doesn't mean they are going to hurt anyone. However, it is important to realize how many people's emotions and minds have been damaged by military service. Some of these 300,000 get help and are okay or relatively okay. Some of these aren't able to get help. Some medications might help some of these people. Some medications might make their conditions worse and cause them to kill themselves and or others. All these things are true.
It likely wasn't called Post Traumatic Stress Disorder until the Viet Nam War or thereabouts. Before this it was often called battle fatigue. People down through the centuries who had battle fatigue often were called "The Walking Wounded". There are also an incredible amount of children, adults, and soldiers that are the walking wounded in Syria at present as well. It is thought that up to 25% of the population of Syria are presently considered "Walking Wounded", in other words they aren't exactly right in their thoughts, emotions or actions anymore because of what has happened to them, their families, and their country and friends. And this isn't going to go away anytime soon either.
