Knee replacement surgery?

We went to see a doctor today about potential knee replacement surgery for my wife. I have learned in the last few months that there have now been about 600,000 to 800,000 successful knee replacement surgeries so far.

I also learned that it depends at what weight you are at (for your height) how long a knee replacement surgery will last. Under ideal circumstances of you are thin enough your knee replacement surgery might last 20 years. However, if you are overweight at all it might last as little as ten year without any problems. This is basically what I learned yesterday. Also, I learned that a spinal is usually a better way because you recover more quickly than if you are completely knocked out. Also, if they stretch your muscles rather than clip some out of the way you also recover more quickly as well. There are ways to get you up and functional and there are ways to make you take longer to recover. So, it is best if you research which doctors have the quickest recovery and turn around time, especially if you have to work for a living or your family needs you well enough to take care of them.

Of course, for many of you the cost might be the most important thing or that it is covered under your insurance at as low a deductible as possible. But remember to weigh all factors including whatever pain you are enduring daily now in regard what you need to do short term and long term to have a quality enough life to continue to want to actually live it.
