Unless Ukrainian soldiers have been in the Soviet Army from the 1980s or fought in Chechnya likely all soldiers are green and untested in battle.
However, they are likely facing Russian Mercenaries many times from battles in the 1980s and 1990s and 2000s in both Afghanistan 1980s and Chechnya 1990s and later. So, these men are familiar with the tactics used against them by Sunni Muslims some of which we might compare to Osama Bin Laden. So, these types of tactics likely the soldiers from Ukraine are not prepared for having likely never seen actual battle situations before.
So, I would say the Ukrainian army on both a military and psychological level are not capable of dealing with the extreme tactics being used against them of people being used as human shields and people getting under their armored cars to stop them from moving forwards. It doesn't matter that in reality only 6% of the people in Eastern Ukraine are pro Russian if Russia has this much will to infiltrate and take over using what I might describe as KGB and Al Qaeda types of tactics combined.
Green troops who have never had to kill in battle before are no match for Russian Mercenaries who have seen what happened in Chechnya in the 1990s and 2000s and in Afghanistan in the 1980s.
