Obama said this in his end of year speech before he went to Hawaii for his Christmas Vacation with his family.
I hadn't heard this before but it actually makes sense. So, if the U.S. is number one in oil production now who is number 2? Likely Saudi Arabia or Russia.
But, then the equation of Saudi Arabia saying, "We are going to keep pumping all the oil we want to." goes into a different context.
Because if the U.S. is now the biggest producer of oil the low price of Gas and Diesel mostly has to do with what the U.S. is doing right now.
So, this changes the whole political equation of what is happening to the Middle East. Because the middle Eastern wars (both sides) are financed by oil and always have been. So, as the price of oil declines in the middle East less weapons can be bought by both sides there and so theoretically too less people will die from weapons even though more might die from starvation.
So then, is the middle eastern situation made better or worse by low oil prices because there will be less deaths from advanced weapons like tanks and helicopter gun ships and missiles but likely more people dying from starvation because of lower oil prices?
However, people buying and selling and pumping oil might not look at it this way at all all around the world.
I actually think this will help the situation there tend to resolve itself faster. Because people murdered with advanced weapons is only going to create a greater call for revenge. But, more people starving to death might just create more AID going to those people so less starve. So, some resolution is more likely to be found in the middle east during lower oil prices as a direct result of people possibly becoming more sane and rational because of less innocent people, (especially civilians and children) being blown up by advanced and expensive weapons.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
