Unlikely Events

Judy Blume brought up this concept in her interview on NPR today on the radio. And if you are a writer this concept might help you. Because Unlikely events are often what people want to read about to give some depth and color to their lives.

What is most important to unlikely events is if you can actually survive them:

Here is one unlikely event that won't take much time.

I was married to my first wife and I owned a 1966 VW Seablue Bug car(Beetle)
We were driving after having bought organic Carrot juice in plastic bottles from the local health food store then in Encinitas (near San Diego on the coast) (the surfers like Swamis next to Yogananda's place).

So, I was driving down what I think was called Encinitas Blvd. if I'm correct there but is actually the Pacific Coast Highway that follows the coast in a lot of places up and down California. I was making a left turn off the Boulevard onto a side street and the lady (likely 50 or more) pulled out and clipped off my rear fender on my bug (likely in 1976) because my son was about 2 years old and we weren't wearing seat belts which wasn't required until about 1987 or 1989.

The lady knew it was her fault and freaked out and thought we were all injured because our carrot juices that my wife and I were drinking covered us and the inside of the car. So, she thought it was blood and started to faint. So, I had to jump out of the car and try to catch her so she didn't faint from thinking it was blood. I was worried about here at this point because she was older and had had a traumatic experience. She later said she would pay for a new rear fender for my Bug which she did.

This was her fault because she didn't notice I was making a left hand turn and in her mind I was going to head straight even though my left blinker light was on. However, it was in the afternoon and it was very bright out so near the beach.

This is an example of an unlikely event. my 1st wife and I mostly just laughed about it because the lady almost fainted even though we were concerned about her and rushed to her aid. So, the end of it was I didn't have a left rear fender on my car for awhile and drove it around that way anyway until a new fender could be bought and put on and painted the same color as my car.
