Thanks for sharing my interests and visiting my site. Have a Great Day!
My first blog was at Geocities in 1999 but they weren't called that yet then. Then in 2007 in the Fall I joined Blogspot.com as a blogger because I learned that Blogspot was tied to Google so basically would tend to go wherever Google went worldwide as a blog or to anyone who was tech savvy enough to receive blogger.com wherever they are on earth.
In the early 2000s people started calling them Blogs and more and more people started doing this more to share information with their friends and then it spread from there to all sorts of new reasons and venues around the world.
However, the heaviest traffic that likely will take me to 1,000,000 views by the middle of next year has been since 2011 and the Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan when I advocated Crowdsourcing with Geiger counters there so people would be less afraid to eat food, drink water and milk and have their kids play outside in the dirt because of radiation. At that time my readership spiked and has continued to be really amazing ever since.
If you are interested in starting or developing a blog the thing to remember is a blog is really not about you in the end. People read whatever they are interested in at that moment which might surprise you for a variety of reasons. (I know it always does me). I have no idea why people choose to visit one article 1000 times and not others. The subjects they are interested in however, do make sense to me.
Also, whenever I quote a good subject from Wikipedia often that article will get 100 to 500 to 1000 views within a month or two also sometimes. So, if you can be interested in things other people are interested in too, this often allows people to enjoy your blog and return again and again because of shared interests.
Also, readers are coming and going 24 hours a day. Often my highest traffic is between 9pm and 9am all over the world for example or from 4pm to midnight here in the U.S. which makes sense too.
So, as long as you realize you are not the center of attention and your information gathering and sharing abilities allow people to find out what they want to about literally anything is the most important you might do well as a blogger if it is also fun and useful to you too to share things you learn about with others. Have a Great Day!
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
