Home

I made it home to the San Francisco Coast by about 4 pm today.

By the way, the traffic on Interstate 5 was really bad south of Stockton (I usually try to avoid driving through 505, 80 or 101 or 680 through SF Bay area because of rush hour traffic).

But, I couldn't believe how bad the traffic was south of Stockton. We were averaging 35 to 50 miles per hour (at the fastest for around an hour). So, Thanksgiving Traffic began in earnest today. I had never seen it like this there before.

So, I woke up at 7:30 Am this morning and God or the universe sort of said to me, "Get up and drive right now, it's still raining but it will snow soon." So, without breakfast I got up and packed up my truck and got on the road by 8:30am. But, on the way to Dunsmuir on Interstate 5 it started to Snow. Then I got a text message of how my friends who live up towards the mountain more were getting snow. Another friend who lives out Hiway 89 towards Bartle said he had already 2 inches of snow outside his house (he measured it with a ruler and it was going for 3 inches before we got off the phone.

So, I really felt I had dodged a bullet because you really don't want to be pulling an enclosed trailer hauling furniture in the snow even if you have a 4 wheel drive truck. So, I dodged the snow bullet and felt very blessed and happy as my friends talked about the snow coming down on two of my friends houses.

Around Williams the sky opened up and it was sunny in between dark rain and snow clouds for about 20 miles. It was one of those cloud situations where it is sort of like you expect God to come down out of the clouds. Incredibly beautiful!

So, I was really glad to get back about 4 pm to the coast and home. But strangely enough it feels colder here than it did other places on my 2 week journey to Portland and back.

I'm really grateful to be safe and warm home again. This was a long trip so I'm really glad to be warm and cozy and home.

I was looking at the rain and snow in California and right now Eureka is getting nailed by rain and snow a little inland. There's a lot of snow on the ground in the north state so sort of be on the lookout for it so you don't unexpectedly slide off the road on black ice because it is so very cold.

Be really careful in the north state and expect anything so you stay safe.
