Public Schools across the U.S. have been completely dysfunctional since I was in them from 1954 until 1965

Were public schools safe to be in when I went to school? No. Are they safe to be in now?NO.

They simply are not safe. If you want your child to stay your friend and not turn against you at some point simply don't send them to public school.

You are sending them off to war literally, a war they may or may not survive. I was always big for my age and (at least in my own grade) could hit harder and stronger than anyone else in my grade. So, I never got beat up by people in my grade because I could hurt them more than they could hurt me. However, smaller children in my grade often went to the hospital from being rolled down the street in trash cans or having their heads flushed down toilets with excrement. This happened all the time by bullies and often teachers looked the other way or else they wouldn't have been able to teach us anything at all. I had teachers in 3rd grade picking up boys by their ears for months until she was fired (she had been through an awful divorce and so hated anyone in the male species). However, my 4th grade teacher recognized me as a good writer of stories by reading my work before the class. However, I was very shy (even though big for my age at the time).

Betsy Devos might be completely inexperienced regarding public schools, but they have been such a complete mess for so long maybe trying charter schools instead with every child and parent choosing which school they want to go to is a better thing. The teacher's unions will obviously fight this tooth and nail even though it might be better for students if the charter schools are any good at all.

I think we might be moving from public schools to Charter Schools to independent study at home more and more with children learning online more. I think this is where all this is presently going.

This might not be good for Teacher's unions but it might be a much better education for all children involved.

Though teacher's unions provide tenure for teachers they cannot teach 40%to 50% of the children in their care who are different learners and parents are regularly lied to by teachers who might not know any better. Just because there is no funding to teach different learners like dyslexics in any public school right now.

So, if your child is dyslexic and if they are boys if you want to keep them out of jail as adults you simply must educate them at home or send them to a private school trained to teach them. This is a given.

Not to realize this as parents should be a crime!

In the end Teacher's unions ONLY provide tenure for teachers who don't rock the system. All enlightened teachers tend to quit when they see how disadvantaged students are by the way things are presently done.

So, if you understand that teacher's unions help teachers but not really students this is what you need to know. I have been raising children since 1974 and it took me years to understand this and my dyslexic son who is now almost 43 was not diagnosed as dyslexic until his early to late teens. Luckily, I had home school him from 1st through 5th grade so he wasn't damaged enough by public schools during that time to become a criminal like many dyslexics are caused to be criminals by public schools across America.

How does this happen you say? It happens through shaming. It used to be the dunce cap put on children not fast enough in their thinking. But,when this continues for dyslexics throughout school since they are usually much more intelligent than most people are they become angry from being tortured in this way.

In California, a study was done regarding dyslexics 15% of the population of men. HOwever,in prison 75% of inmates are dyslexics put their by shaming in public schools.

Tell me this isn't a disaster for the whole country and world!

So, maybe the end of public schools will help different learners not have to go to prison simply because of shaming in public schools!

Take a look at how much it costs to hold each prisoner and tell me that money wouldn't be better spent actually training teachers to teach these dyslexics without shaming them all the time with metaphoric dunce caps?
